Future Doctor Who Toy Range

With news that future figures from Character will be based on classic Doctor Who, it isn't unreasonable to expect some classic Sontarans, Zygons and Silurians; and guess what, I've a pretty good idea what the new Sontaran toys will look like:

The Doctor Who Series 4 Sontaran design has been revealed today, and with that smooth dome, muscular armour and big gun, it isn't going to take a genius to see that the cloned character has been designed to allow for realistic toy versions, and the chance for massive toy armies to engage with the Daleks and Cybermen of earlier years.

Toys R Us Doctor Who Madness!

Is it time to go Doctor Who toy crazy? Toystore giant Toys R Us certainly think so, with the run-up to Christmas prompting them to devote vast swathes of shelf space to Doctor Who figures and playsets...

Apparently the chain has allocated 24 foot of wall space to the massive range of Doctor Who toys and merchandise in each of their 73 toy stores, with new merchandise from The Sarah Jane Adventures expected to arrive in stores shortly.

And there are already key items from the Doctor Who toy range listed in this years best sellers including the Master Laser Screwdriver and the Dalek Sec Hybrid Voice Changer Mask, and Toys R Us have declared their range of Doctor Who merchandise the biggest in the UK, with more is on its way.

The dedicated displays are enhanced with the latest images from the Doctor Who series, featuring characters such as the Daleks, K9, the Doctor and the Master. The imagery is completed with illumination effects, sounds and motion creating what Toys R Us claims is "a unique experience for shoppers and fans".

5" Action Figures... The HOIX?!

Well there's a turn up - the Hoix as an action figure?

("The WHO?!" I hear you all ask)

The Hoix was of course the carnivorous beast from Love & Monsters - on screen for less than a minute but nevertheless a fearsome-looking creature.

Available on Amazon from £6.99, the Hoix is part of the new "wave" release schedule from Character Options, featuring "less important" characters, such as the Hoix, the grandmother from The Idiots Lantern, and Doctor Constantine from The Empty Child - that's right, you're very own Victor Meldrew toy!

Doctor Who Series 3 Boxset!

What better way to start this blog with news of the release of the Doctor Who Series 3 Boxset?

Featuring all of the Series 3 episodes - including Christmas 2006's The Runaway Bride - the boxset includes 6 DVDs, each with episodes, commentaries and special features, including David Tennant video diaries!

Disappointingly, there's very little Freema Agyeman who only provides commentary for the final episode, but on the whole this looks a superb purchase, with a sumptuos design courtesy of the same team who provided us with the Series 2 Boxset. There's no illustration in the booklet this time, however, but the quality of the episodes, which of course include Blink, Human Nature/Family of Blood and Utopia should ensure that this is a DVD set that won't be forgotten.

For full content details, visit Kasterborous.com - meanwhile to order, what better place than Amazon who are listing the Doctor Who Series 3 Boxset for £52.49, a 25% discount!
